English singer-songwriter Adele not only performed her piano ballad “Someone Like You” onstage of the 2011 MTV VMAs but also took home three Moonman statues for Best Art Direction in a Video, Best Editing in a Video and Best Cinematography in a Video.
She stood at the microphone in a black dress, swiveled her hips a little bit and gestured with her hands.
Before the big show got started, pop star Britney Spears paid tribute to Adele as she chatted with pre-show’s black carpet hostess Selena Gomez. “I'm really interested in seeing Adele. I love her. I'm the biggest fan. I'm really excited about seeing her.” Spears said.

Written by Adele and Dan Wilson, the ballad “Someone Like You” was released on January 24, 2011 and received positive reviews from music critics.
The song became the first single of the decade to sell a million units in the UK in July 2011 and the first song to spend five weeks at the top of the UK Singles Chart since Katy Perry's “I Kissed a Girl” back in 2008.
It was inspired by a broken relationship that Adele experienced.
