The famine in southern Somalia this year is considered a true scar on the world’s conscience as hundreds of thousands of refugees had fled famine in the south of the country. The World Food Programme has recently declared that the famine in Somalia requires $ 580 million approximately Kshs.52.2 billion for effective intervention to secure over 3 million people facing starvation.

It is said that the UN body has managed to reach some 1.5 million famine victims in Somali out of over 3.7 million people facing starvation in the country. Therefore, millions of people are at risk of starvation. Most of the people in this region are reported to be too weak to go in search of food at the current.
