The daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, has been hired as a full-time special correspondent for NBC News. Her job is to focus on pieces for the network's “Making a Difference” feature on NBC Nightly News which spotlights people who volunteer to improve the lives of others in their community. The 31-year-old, who had been kept out of the public eye when Bill Clinton won the presidency in 1992, is stepping into her own spotlight. Chelsea Clinton is the second daughter of president to be hired by NBC News, the first one was enna Bush Hager, daughter of former President George W. Bush.

Speaking about the new job, Clinton said, “I hope telling stories through 'Making a Difference' - as in my academic work and nonprofit work - will help me to live my grandmother's adage of 'Life is not about what happens to you, but about what you do with what happens to you”. Steve Capus, president of NBC News, told that “It's not about Chelsea Clinton saying, 'Here I am; I want to be a TV star.' [She] made it very clear that this is not going to be a surface-deep relationship”. He also hopes, “It's the beginning of a nice, long-term relationship”
