Former England captain David Beckham was photographed visiting Beijing Guo'an Football Club at Workers Stadium in Beijing, the capital of China on Thursday, March 21, 2013. This is the second day the British football player has been in the country. The day before, David Beckham hit the stage to speak at the Ambassador for the Youth Football Programme and the Chinese Super League press conference at Shijia Hutong Primary School. Dressed in a smart navy suit, the 37-year-old midfielder received a hero’s welcome when he landed on Chinese soil. David Beckham is on a five-day visit to China at the invitation of the China Football Association as their first international ambassador. He will be obligated to attend league matches in the nation and visit clubs to help promote the game to children. With his new role as global football ambassador, David Beckham will promote the Chinese Super League both around the world and in China. It is also hoped that his popularity and influence will restore the image of the beautiful game in the wake of the recent match-fixing scandals.
