Nominations of 2011 Emmy Awards were announced by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood, California on Thursday 14 July with some special categories including for Comedies and Dramas.

These Emmy’s special categories are quite different from the Oscars. This is actually a best chance for comedic actors and shows to be against their dramatic counterparts in the broader "Best" categories. 'Mad Men', a sharply observed drama of a changing 1960s America and the melodramatic miniseries "Mildred Pierce” got top the list of Emmy winners announced on July 14. More impressively, some new shows appeared on the list including HBO's popular "Game of Thrones", which premiered this summer. "The Killing" of AMC was not nominated for Best Series on this significant day, but two of the show's actors are voted for the golden awards.
