The nominations for the 2012 Golden Globe Awards have been revealed on Thursday, 15 December 2011 with the French silent film The Artist leading with six nominations. The 69th Golden Globe Awards will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on 15 January 2012 by NBC with Ricky Gervais as the host. The annual Golden Globe Award is to recognize the excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. This year's Golden Globe nominations show some of a love affair between Hollywood and France.
Topping the Golden Globe film nominations is the mostly silent film "The Artist" with six nominations including best picture, comedy, best director and best screenplay. The black-and-white film about the downfall of a silent-movie star is followed by The Help and George Clooney's The Descendants with five each.
