The Spanish football team Granada CF has won promotion and returned to La Liga after a 35-year absence. The third Andalusian football team won the right to La Liga on the away goals rule after defeating Elche in the Spanish second division play-off final, second leg on Saturday, June 18, 2011. Granada CF, who have never won a major honor, has become the first winner of the promotion playoffs and secured promotion from the Segunda Division to La Liga for the first time since 1976 after successively defeating Celta de Vigo and Elche CF.
