“The Hills” star Kristin Cavallari, 24, and Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, 28, have broken off their engagement, a source confirmed to PEOPLE, after just ten months together. It is not a fairy-tale ending this blond TV personality once hoped for.
The celebrity couple, who got engaged in April 2011 during their vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, planned a happy spring wedding surrounded by family and friends.
The shocking decision made Kristin Cavallari feel “absolutely devastated” because “she can't believe this is happening.” Their wedding registry was even released last week.
Last Saturday night, the star was spotted hitting The Beverly, an L.A. lounge, without her engagement ring.

A friend of Cavallari, who knew the couple socially, said that “Jay Cutler was beyond controlling and didn't really like Kristin to go out." the friend says. "When she did go out, he called all the time and demanded to know exactly where she was going and who she was with.”

Back to June 2011, Kristin Cavallari expressed her expectation of getting her body wedding-ready. “I'll probably keep up my regular gym routine for the coming months ... until spring. And then probably two months before [the wedding] I'll go at it harder." she said.
