The St. Bartholomews procession was held at the beach of Sao Bartolomeu do Mar, Portugal on August 25, 2011. This is a ritual expected to heal and protect children from the Devil. During the procession, children carry black roosters around St. Bartholomew church three times and kiss a statue of the saint and then head to the beach where they are dipped three times in the sea to complete the centuries old ritual.
