On 29th September, Prince William & Kate Middleton paid a visit to Oak Centre, a new £18m cancer unit at the Royal Marsden hospital to open this new specialist children's cancer treatment ward for children and young people. Moreover, this trip is aimed at helping Kate decide which charities she aims to support. This is considered a part of her royal duties as a Duchess in order to learn more about the institutions she will represent.
It is almost 30 years since Princess Diana traveled the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey on her first solo outing in 1982, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited to meet young cancer sufferers. The hospital is the first ever in the world dedicated to cancer treatment and research, and the new center which the Royal couple opened will treat about 600 inpatients and over 5,000 day patients every year. Kate looked so elegant in her Amanda Wakeley simple cream knee-length dress and tan LK Bennett heels. Interestingly, designer Amanda Wakeley was also a big favorite of Kate's late mother-in-law Princess Diana whose first solo outing was to the Royal Marsden Hospital in 1982, where she apparently donned a dress by Wakeley.
