After months of speculation by Republicans, Rick Perry has officially entered the 2012 Texas Governor race. His spokesman, Mark Miner confirmed that Perry running for president and the longest-serving governor in Texas history would make a definitive announcement on Saturday for the race.
Texas Governor Rick Perry was born in the year of 1950 at a small farming village in Abilene’s north. Perry's father named Joseph Ray Perry, a Democrat, was a Haskell County Commissioner, school board member and ever a tail gunner in the Second World War. Perry was a student of Texas A and M University and married his high school sweetheart named Anita Thigpen in 1982. He has a happy family with a capable wife who has concentrated her efforts on improving the health of her fellow Texans and two children. Rick Perry's son is Griffin Perry, 28, and the governor's daughter is Sydney Perry, 24.
Anita Perry has been supporting her husband to enter the Presidential field. Perry’s first step entering politics was in 1975 as a Democrat representative for a rural west Texas district in the state House of Representatives and was appointed to chair Al Gore's campaign in Texas in 1988. Rick Perry teamed with the Republican Party in 1989, and served as Texas Commissioner for Agriculture for two terms. In 1998, Perry was elected Lieutenant Governor of Texas and two years later, he became the 47th Texas Governor following George W Bush's resignation for presidency.
