Today (April 29, 2011) witnesses the 21st century’s royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton that takes place at Westminster Abbey in front of thousands of their family members and guests. It is the happy ending for the couple after their nine-year romance’s ups and downs.
Prince William and his fiancée first met at the University of St. Andrew, where they studied art history, in September 2001. Though the couple was rumored more than just friends during fall 2003, they publicized their relationship one year later on the ski slopes in Klosters.
Prince William popped the question to Kate with his mother’s 18-carat sapphire ring in a Kenya’s lodge on their vacation in November 2010.
