Lakers star Ron Artest, the soon-to-be Metta World Peace made the decision to be on "Dancing with the Stars" season 13 and will debut his dancing shoes on September 19 and his partner Peta Murgatroyd. He revealed that at first it was not appealing for him to join this competition; however, "My daughter Diamond was like, 'Daddy, you should do it." Proud father Artest, 31, admittedly is a sucker for his 8-year-old daughter, who battled cancer when she was 4. He could not the demand of his dear daughter so that: "She asked me to do it, and I thought I could dance and raise some money for cancer research. I'm going to donate the profits."
Ron Artest, 31, an American professional basketball player and rapper is currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. He made his fame as one of the league's premier defenders as winning the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2004. He was a major participant in the Pacers–Pistons brawl and is known for his sometimes eccentric, outspoken behavior. In July 2009, the Los Angeles Lakers signed Artest to a five-year deal worth about $33 million. He chose the number 37 as an honor of Michael Jackson. Ron Artest is related to many legal problems such as arrested for domestic abuse in 2007 by his ex-wife Kimsha Hatfield who now stars on VH1's Basketball Wives LA. The ex-couple who had four children including Diamond and Sade had a private split on June 30, 2009.
