World’s Most Famous High-Rise Building Fires

A 44-storey hotel in Beijing, China was engulfed in fire because people lighted fireworks. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank building in New York, United States was damaged by a fire causing by its smoking workers. These two high-rise building fires are typical examples of huge fires caused by careless mistakes. Let’s see other world’s most famous high-rise building fires through pictures as following:

In February 2011, a fire broke out at a five-star hotel - the tallest building in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province. According to police, the fire was triggered by fireworks while people were celebrating the Lunar New Year. The fire was effectively controlled and no casualties had been found.

On 13 March 2009, the top floors of the Bashundhara City Complex in Bangladesh’s capital of Dhaka were damaged by a huge fire. Only one security guard was killed as he leaped off the top of the building in order to escape from the fire and 17 others were injured.

The fire broke out at the 17th floor of the half-demolished Deutsche Bank building at ground zero in New York on August 18, 2007. Ten floors of the building were engulfed in flames. Two firefighters were killed and their 115 colleagues were injured during the fire.

The fire engulfed a 28-storey apartment building undergoing renovations in Shanghai, China in November 2011 killed 53 people and injured more than 90 others. This fire was known as one of the deadliest fires in the areas in years.

A fire broke out on the exterior of the top six floors and roof of Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in the city of Paradise, Nevada, U.S. and spread rapidly. The hotel is 32 stories and is located in an 8,400 m2 area. The exterior fire was fully contained an hour after it began.

The famous Windsor Tower in Madrid, Spain was gutted by a huge fire on February 12, 2005. At least nine floors of the building were completely destroyed. Seven firefighters were injured and nobody was killed in the fire.
