Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko had a tearful reunion with her daughter Eugenia Tymoshenko after she was released from prison on Saturday (February 22, 2014). The 53-year-old was freed following a vote by parliament demanding her release and it’s her only child who hailed the vote the day before. “Of course, there were a lot of tears, a lot of emotions. She’s proud to be Ukrainian. I’m also proud to be her daughter,” Eugenia Tymoshenko said. “I just hope now Ukraine can live better and start a better life for itself, and that politicians will be more accountable to these people.”

The daughter of Yulia Tymoshenko held a press conference on Friday to renounce the deaths and violence. She denounced the regime for massacre of Ukrainian civilians as well as said that her mother was in prison fighting for Ukrainian people. Previously, the younger Tymoshenko addressed U.S. senators and European Union lawmakers to push Ukraine to free her mother. The 34-year-old also as well as pleaded with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Hillary Clinton to increase the pressure on Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych for her mom’s release.
